Recruitment agencies looking for trends in the British employment sector will welcome news that temporary worker use is set to remain steady for the coming months. A new poll by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) showed that the majority of employers are to keep or increase current agency worker numbers.
In the REC poll it was shown that 25% of employers were going to increase temporary workers over the next quarter. In comparison, just 13% of companies are looking to reduce the number of short-term staff that they are currently using. Meanwhile, whilst 61% of employers said that they would freeze agency worker numbers over the three months, 22% said that they actually expect to hire more people in the next four to 12 months. This could have a huge effect on the current employment market, with a larger number of people being able to find temporary positions within top UK businesses.
Speaking of the latest trends, the REC’s director of research, Roger Tweedy, said that the latest data could offer the promise of a recovering and growing economy. Mr Tweedy said that “many employers are poised to hire when confidence returns and there are signs that the outlook for temporary staffing could be improving.” For recruitment agencies wanting to take advantage of the latest trends so that they can find the ideal job candidates for their clients, utilising temporary and agency personnel could be the perfect solution.
