After the Scottish government said that the new Budget must place more priority on bolstering the economy, low cost airline easyJet has revealed that it is to create 100 new engineering jobs north of the border. For recruitment agencies wanting to place staff, the news from Scotland will be a welcome sign that many new opportunities are set to become available.
EasyJet currently houses five planes at Edinburgh airport, but has said that it is to increase this number as it looks to the future development of new outbound flights. The rise in aircraft will mean that 100 new engineering jobs will have to be created so that planes can be serviced and maintained. Hugh Aitken, the commercial manager of Scotland for easyJet, said: “We are doing something quite unique. We’re starting to talk to a lot of our partners, Scottish Enterprise and VisitScotland and others, about where they see the opportunities, where they see the markets that are underserved or have potential to grow in and out of Scotland, and how they can support us with that.”
Scotland continues to do a lot to bolster the British economy and has gone to great lengths to increase job positions and employment rates north of the borders. As such, many contractors have moved north to take advantage of these opportunities. For recruitment agencies also wanting to create more connections between companies and workforce, paying attention to Scotland’s growing labour market will be essential.
