The company behind celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay’s empire has launched a new recruitment partnership that will focus on helping the long-term unemployed get back into work.
Gordon Ramsay Holdings (GRH) has partnered with specialist staffing firm, Ingeus, to run the scheme, and has already seen 21 people hired in restaurant and hospitality positions through the process since July 2010, all of whom had been unemployed for a significant period of time.
One of the people who has been successful in finding work is 42-year-old Ian, who had been made redundant in 2008, having spent over a decade working as a bus conductor. He said he was in a difficult situation because he simply hadn’t had to apply for any jobs in more than ten years, and had very rusty CV and interview knowledge.
Following intensive training workshops and mock interviews, Ian was successful in his application to be a runner at the newly-refurbished, prestigious Savoy Grill restaurant – all just in time for the birth of his baby daughter just a few weeks after he started his job.
“I’m chuffed to be working at Gordon Ramsay Holdings – it’s made a lot of changes to my life,” he said. “There’s a good atmosphere and all the staff are good to get on with – I now enjoy getting up and going to work. Now I have the chance to work full-time again, my monthly wage will help me to bring up my new-born daughter.”
