Google, a world leader and international giant in the online search market, has revealed that it is preparing to amalgamate its two current London divisions into one super office. With a deal almost closed on a plot of land in King’s Cross, the company are to build a £550m office, offering a vast number of employment options for construction workers to take advantage of.
Google has grown considerably over the past few years, and it recently announced that it now has 400 million users of its Google+ social networking website. Currently, Google has two offices in London, one in Soho and the other in Victoria. The acquisition of the 999-year lease plot in King’s Cross will allow Google’s London presence to grow considerably, offering many employment opportunities, besides the initial construction work, to be seen in coming years.
Though the sale has not yet been completed, Google revealed that it wanted the transaction to be completed by American Thanksgiving (22nd November) so that construction work could start as soon as possible. King’s Cross has noted a lot of building work over the past few years after the development of St Pancras International offered the opportunity to board the Eurostar and enjoy direct travel to the continent.
Recruitment agencies in the area could well note a rise in demand for construction contractors as Google prepare to get its build underway. Even after construction is complete, the company is set to be looking for new staff to ensure that its London expansion is a success.
